Shopping/thrifting is easy. What is difficult is to maintain the vision to see a piece of clothing past what it looks like on the hanger into a chic and workable outfit. While thrifting I rarely look for specifics and certainly don’t worry about what I will pair an item with once I purchase it. When I thrifted these two pieces, months and months apart from each other, I definitely was not thinking about wearing them together. I just loved the shade of pink in the sweater and thought the pants were a fun and funky piece to add to my closet. When you pick up any item of clothing look past the hanger appeal and think about the value it will add or take away from your wardrobe. Think about the items, present and future, that you could potentially pair with this piece. I never look at items and say, “Gosh, I’m not sure I have anything to wear with this, should I buy it??” Yes! I can almost always find something to match in my closet and if not it will be fun to shop for something that will match! Don’t miss out on something great because you are fearful of how to wear it, what matters is if you love it and will enjoy wearing it!

One way to ensure that you actually wear these items you have taken a chance on is to put them into your rotation right away. Don’t shove it into the back of your closet with your junior prom dress and those jeans that don’t fit with the intention of finding something to wear with it later. Decide you will wear this piece on a specific day and stick with it! Working an outfit around this new item will force you to think creatively about your wardrobe along with pushing you a little out of your comfort zone. It will also show you the value this item can have in your wardrobe and keep it on the forefront of your mind. At the end of the day just have fun trying new things, mixing different patterns, layering unusual pieces and pushing your creative boundaries!

I hope everyone had a safe and Happy New Year! 2017 hear we come!!

Affectionately, Audrey ❤
