I literally have nothing in my wardrobe that I reserve for one specific outfit. Everything in my closet has equal rights to be worn with everything else. What I mean by this, is don’t reserve a pair of pants to be worn with only one top for the rest of its existence. I constantly have people who tell me that they are on the hunt for a dress to wear with a pair of shoes that they bought months ago. I always expect the shoes to be some wild design that might be best paired with something specific. But to my continuous surprise, it is always just a casual shoe that could be paired in so many ways. It makes me want to cry, and I never want to cry, to think that an amazing pair of shoes will have to go unworn and collect dust on a shelf until that “perfect” dress surfaces.

When my friend, Yuri, and I talked about doing a collaboration together we thought it would be fun to stretch your imagination a little. We decided to show you how to wear three different coats (all coats currently in my wardrobe) with the same outfit and not break any fashion rules in the process. Joan Rivers would approve. I also wanted to wear an outfit that was out of the box to show that you don’t have to be wearing all black to accomplish this wardrobe change. I started with a skirt I had recently thrifted and the desire to wear red tights. The rest of the outfit came together the day of the shoot and before I left I picked out three jackets that I knew would work with my look while each giving different vibes. As you can see from the pictures above and video below that each coat works perfectly with the outfit in its own way and changes up the look each time! This idea is not only reserved for outerwear, but anything in your closet! So it goes to show that, contrary to popular belief, you can mix and match pieces in your wardrobe on a daily basis to compliment the outfit you are currently styling. With this in mind don’t wait another second to dust off those shoes on the shelf, stretch your imagination and style them with something fabulous ASAP!

Comment below and let me know which look is your favorite!

Affectionately, Audrey ❤

  1. I love this post! Perfection. I love all the different colors in one look. Love, love the addition of the video! And, for someone like me that doesn’t get to talk to you, it’s great to hear your voice. The coats – my favorites in order, 1) Red 2) Pink 3) Black/white.
