I am always the first one to make fun of myself. For instance, I’m trying to figure out if this outfit more closely resembles a rodeo clown or the female salsa dancer emoji. I’m kidding of course (or am I?). I love this wacky outfit and all the little details that make it unique. It’s a good practice in life, and fashion, to not take yourself too seriously. People will always make fun of what you do or try to knock you down because of jealously or spite. The trick is getting to a place where you no longer care what others think because you love and are confident in what you do. How do you do this? I certainly don’t have it all figured out, but I finally realized that I no longer wanted other people’s opinions dictating what I liked and influencing what I decided to wear. So I stopped caring about what other people thought and began to fully explore what I liked and enjoyed. Gosh, that was such a freeing moment! Fashion should be light hearted and fun, not dreary and intimidating! You should feel free to try new things and express yourself in a way that truly reflects who you are. It’s not an easy step to take, but once you take it you will never look back! Trust me it’s worth it!

This outfit is so weird, I just love it. I snagged this top at our local Buffalo exchange and honestly was a little skeptical about it at first. I went back and forth about wether I should buy it or not, finally deciding to take a chance since it reminded me of one of my favorite designers, Rosie Assoulin. I am very glad I did, because it has quickly become part of the family in my wardrobe. I thrifted this skirt a couple of weeks ago, but had not thrown it into the rotation yet. In a mad dash to get dressed one morning these pieces ended up laying beside each other and it was like a light popped on that said, “Duh”. So the outfit was born and the rest is history. 😉

Would you have guessed the majority of this outfit was thrifted/vintage? Give thrifting a try and let me know what you find by tagging me at @affectionatelyaudrey
